JULIE & ELMO

"When it's all too much, look at what we've done."
I’ve never been a fangirl for a local artist before. Heck, I’ve never really been a real fan of local artists before. Tamang gusto lang, ganun. But when I started becoming a fan of Julie Anne and Elmo (JuliElmo), it was a whole new experience for me. More than having a pair of 18-year olds inspiring me, I already gained a new family, my fellow fans. We all talk to each other every day, despite others being from other countries, despite not really knowing each other in person. If you can just see us chatting on Twitter, you’d think we were the best of friends and that we’ve known each other for so long even though, in reality, that social networking site is really where we all just met. Whenever Julie Anne or Elmo, or the loveteam, is up for an award, we all cooperate and we vote. Whenever there’s a new show or endorsement for them, we endorse, as well. Whenever there are shows, we try to go, or at least bring home photos or videos to share to the other fans who didn’t get a chance to go. Whenever they’re on a show, or whenever we just feel like it, we try to trend their names on Twitter. Whenever someone insults them or bashes them (admit it JuliElmoes haha), we bash and insult those people, too (just because we’re too passionate), because Julie Anne and Elmo are too nice to defend themselves. So, we do it for them. Day in and day out, I spend some of my free time with these folks, these fans that lovingly call each other “ADIKS” and everyday, despite being older than most of them, they put a smile on my face, the same way Julie Anne and Elmo do. We are a bunch of crazy, “rabid” (according to DJ Logan of 99.5), imagination-driven, JuliElmo-inspired people. We write fanfictions, we blog about them, we edit their photos to fuel our “kilig”, we write poems for them, we make fan videos for them… and guess what? We aren’t stopping anytime soon. As long as there’s a JuliElmo or there’s a Julie Anne and Elmo to support, we will support. Yes, I’m a fan of a local artist. Of two local artists, actually. MOST PEOPLE WOULD BE ASHAMED TO ADMIT THAT, but I’m not. I’m a fan. I’m an Adik. And I am proud to be one. Best fan base in this side of the world. :) ♥ (credits to the owner of the photo)
